Making determinations on a drug product’s brand or generic status is complex. Medi-Span® has historically provided multiple data elements in our files to support customers in establishing proprietary rules for brand/generic determination.
The Brand Probability File places all these data elements in a single product and provides a means for weighting the importance of each element when making brand/generic status decisions. The result is a Brand Probability Percent Value that can be utilized in your own algorithm or serve as a validation mechanism in your processing.
