Drug Allergy Cross-Reference File
RxNorm is a standardized nomenclature for drugs at varying levels of specificity,
including drug ingredients. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), along with
the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP), maintain unique ingredient identifiers
(UNIIs). Use of RxNorm ingredients and FDA UNII allows disparate systems to
effectively and efficiently share drug allergy information defined as ingredients.
The Drug Allergy Cross-Reference File was developed to enable customers to map
drug ingredient terms from Medi-Span to RxNorm ingredient concepts and to FDA
UNII.
